Refund & Returns Policy
This policy explains how refunds, cancellations and returns work for work booked through electricianelectricians.co.za. It covers electrical labour, call-outs, quoted jobs, deposits and any parts or materials we supply. It is not a substitute for the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or a written quotation you have signed.
1. Who this applies to
It applies to domestic, commercial and industrial customers in South Africa who book us for repairs, installations, maintenance, inspections, Certificates of Compliance (CoC), solar-related electrical work, or emergency call-outs.
2. Call-out and quotation
We advertise a free call-out and free quotes on standard bookings, subject to the terms on the page you booked from.
- If the visit is only to inspect and quote, and you decline the work, no labour charge is raised for that standard call-out.
- After-hours abuse, a false address, no access, or a booking cancelled after the electrician is already travelling may be billed as a wasted-trip fee. You will be told that fee before we dispatch if it applies.
- A quote is an estimate until you accept it. Once accepted (WhatsApp, email, SMS or signature), it becomes the price for the described scope.
3. When you can cancel
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Cancel before we leave for site | No charge |
| Cancel after the electrician is en route | Wasted-trip / time charge may apply |
| Cancel after work has started | You pay for labour and materials already used |
| Cooling-off on a direct-marketed service (CPA s16), where that section applies | Written cancel within 5 business days of the agreement, before the service is fully performed |
Email accounts@electricianelectricians.co.za or sales@electricianelectricians.co.za and keep the job reference.
4. Refunds on labour
We refund or redo work when the fault is ours.
We will refund or make good if:
- the work does not match the accepted quote
- the installation is unsafe or not to SANS 10142-1 where that standard applied
- a guaranteed repair fails under the same conditions, within the guarantee period we gave you in writing
- you were charged for work that was not done
We will not refund if:
- the fault is a different problem from the one we quoted
- another contractor altered the circuit after we left
- the failure is from overloaded circuits, illegal connections, storm damage, vermin, water ingress you did not disclose, or owner-supplied parts that failed
- you refused recommended isolations, replacements or a CoC
- you have not paid the invoice
Guarantee cover is the period stated on your invoice or job card. If none is stated, ask us in writing and we will confirm it.
5. Deposits and progress payments
Deposits buy materials and book the crew. They are not a “cooling-off voucher”.
- Unused deposit: refunded within 10 business days after we agree the job is cancelled, less materials already cut, ordered or non-returnable.
- Special-order boards, DB gear, inverters, lights or cable: refund only if our supplier takes them back. Supplier restocking fees are deducted.
- Completed milestones on a multi-day job are not refundable.
6. Parts and materials (“returns”)
This is a service business. We do not run a shopfront returns desk.
- Unused, unopened, resaleable stock we supplied may be returned within 7 days of the invoice, in original packaging, for a credit minus any supplier restocking fee.
- Used, cut, installed, or site-damaged goods are not returnable.
- Customer-supplied fittings: we fit them with care; we do not refund those goods if they fail or do not fit.
- Electrical goods that are unsafe to reuse will not be taken back.
7. How to claim
- Email accounts@electricianelectricians.co.za with job date, address, invoice number, photos and a short description.
- Phone 078 768 8491 if it is unsafe (live wires, burning smell, no power).
- We may inspect before we approve a refund or a return visit.
- Approved refunds go back on the same method where we can (card, EFT). Allow 7–10 business days after approval.
We may repair or replace rather than refund where that puts you in the same position.
8. Double billing and card queries
If you see a duplicate charge, send the two references to accounts before you raise a chargeback. We will reverse a true duplicate. A chargeback opened without contacting us first may delay the job file and any guarantee.
9. Gift of work / no-charge jobs
A complimentary diagnosis or waived call-out is not a paid contract. It does not create a refund.
10. Law
South African law applies, including the Consumer Protection Act where you are a consumer as defined there. Nothing in this page takes away a right you already have by statute.
