Stage 13 load-shedding warning in South Africa

A German consultancy group VGBE Energy released a report that states that if Eskom does not repair or upgrade the water treatment plants at the larger power station, it could result in a loss of 13,000 MW of power.

The German consultancy group VGBE Energy have analyzed the coal fired power stations and the water processing plants for a period of four and a half months. Their findings was that in example the Medupi and Matimba plants can not be supplied with water to full capacity at the same time.

It follows that if this plant fails 12 of the generating units of 9,800 MW will go offline.

The same can be said about Kendal.
