Faulty distribution board in Discovery have encountered various reasons why distribution boards become faulty and we have created a shortlist of these problems:

Bad or weak electrical connections.

When electrical contacts heat up they create heat that results in the contact becoming weak after a period of time, we have also determined that the environmental conditions in Discovery results in these weak connections due to the fact that temperature variations or high in the area.

Overload conditions

When to much pressure is placed on a circuit breaker meaning that more current is drawn through the circuit breaker than its rating the circuit breaker will trip which is a common situation in Discovery. Also when you have a short circuit in one of your circuits the circuit breaker will trip as a result which is common in Discovery because the wiring is old and brittle causing it to heat up and burn.

Possible remedies:

Remove all your appliances from the wall sockets and then try switching the circuit breaker up again, if it remedies the situation it means that you have a faulty appliance and this is the most common situation in Discovery.When your earth leakage trips common to Discovery, first switch off all circuit breakers and wait about five minutes for the earth leakage to cool down then switch it on again after which you need to switch on every circuit breaker one at a time.Never immediately after a circuit breaker or your earth leakage tripped switch it on again because it has a coil on the inside that heats up and when you simply switch it on again and it trips the coil gets damaged resulting in the circuit breaker or earth leakage being replaced which we had to do a million times over in Discovery.
